Tata Sierra EV will be launched in the coming months and with a larger battery pack, this electric SUV will be able to offer a range of more than 500 km.
Tata Motors has launched several new launches in the last few months, including the Sierra petrol and diesel, the new Tata Punch, Safari petrol and Harrier petrol. Now the next big launch of the company will be Sierra Electric and its biggest feature will be battery technology and long range. It will be built on the battery platform of Harrier EV. It is also likely to get DC fast charging and bi-directional charging (facility of taking power from the car).
The Harrier electric SUV is currently available with two battery options, including a 65 kWh and a larger 75 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel drive variant of the Harrier EV is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a power of 238 PS and a peak torque of 315 Nm. For those opting for the all-wheel drive option, Tata has provided a rear PMS unit with a front-mounted induction motor. This dual-motor system together generates torque of 504 Nm.
Tata has already confirmed three new electric cars for 2026, including the Punch EV facelift and the first production model based on the Avinya platform. Positioned above the Curve EV, the Sierra EV will target customers who want a premium midsize 5-seater SUV. Its design will be inspired by the old Sierra and the new ICE Sierra.
Talking about the interior, Sierra EV will be made one of the most advanced digital cars of Tata till date. It will get a three-screen dashboard, which will include driver display, touchscreen infotainment and a separate screen for the front passenger. Many features are expected to be provided in the base variant itself. Top variants will get level-2 ADAS, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, ambient lighting and premium sound system.
Apart from this, panoramic glass roof and better interior material is also likely to be provided. The straight and boxy look of the Sierra EV will remain intact in the design, but there will be some new changes related to the EV. It can be seen with closed front grille, full-width LED DRL strip, split headlamps, new bumpers, wide wheel arches, new alloy wheels and connected LED taillight at the rear.
Many of its testing vehicles have been seen on the roads in India, which clearly shows that Tata has now moved beyond the development stage. A few weeks ago, the company had also shown its teaser, which indicated its soon launch.
