Chandigarh, 13 September (IANS). The Chandigarh administration has intensified active efforts at the ground level under the central government’s ambitious ‘TB Open India’ initiative. The campaign, which started under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to make India TB free by 2025. Chandigarh is also trying to achieve this goal.
In Chandigarh recently, 50 special kits were distributed to patients suffering from TB in various dispensary, including medicines, nutrition supplements and awareness materials. This step is a big effort to eliminate TB from the root, which will help patients quick treatment and nutrition.
The Chandigarh administration has announced to organize programs continuously in the entire city. Awareness campaigns are being carried out under the supervision of the State TB officer, in which patients are told about the treatment process, regular intake of medicines and examination of family members. With the resolve of ‘we can end TB’, the darling oath programs are also being organized.
The Chandigarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also supported the campaign. BJP President Jitendra Pal Malhotra said that this campaign has taken the form of mass movement. He instructed the workers to spread awareness from house to house. Malhotra insisted that the government’s schemes will soon eliminate diseases like TB, and Chandigarh will be made a pioneer in health services.
Union Minister for Health and Welfare J.P. Nadda recently announced that 12.97 crore people were screened across the country under the 100-day rapid campaign, in which more than 7.19 lakh patients were identified. Chandigarh has also won the award by excelling in this campaign.
Kits were distributed in a major dispensary of Sector 22 under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program (NTEP) run by the Chandigarh Health Department. Health officials said that these kits have been provided under the Favor Nutrition Scheme, which provide nutritious diet to patients with a monthly assistance of Rs 500.
