– Innovative initiative of the Board for coordination of environmental protection and industrial development
Jaipur. A workshop on ‘Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)’ was organized by Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) on Monday towards striking a balance between environmental protection and industrial development. The workshop was organized at Hotel Marriott in collaboration with the state Department of Environment and Climate Change and Emissions Market Accelerator (EMA). On the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, an announcement in this regard was made in the budget by the state government and this workshop was organized in the same sequence. The main objective of the workshop was to enhance capacity, adapt to local conditions and encourage joint cooperation. In the workshop, Chairman of Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board, Alok Gupta said that Emission Trading Scheme is the need of the hour and in future it will have to be implemented with the cooperation of all stakeholders. He said that Emission Trading Scheme has been running in developed countries of the world for a long time and Gujarat is the first state in India where it was implemented. Gupta said that emission trading of sulfur dioxide (SO₂) will be started soon. This workshop is the first in a series of workshops to be organized with industrial organizations. Workshops will be organized on similar lines in future.
Member Secretary of the Board, Kapil Chandrawal expressed his gratitude in the workshop. During this, Executive Director of Emission Market Accelerator Kaushik Deb, Dr. Ratish Menon, Member Secretary, KSPCB, Tejas Patel, Chief Engineer, GSPCB, EPIC India, NEML, senior officers of Rajasthan Pollution Control Board and regional officers were present.
The first review meeting of the Market Oversight Committee was organized-
After the workshop, the first review meeting of the Market Oversight Committee was organized under the chairmanship of Alok Gupta, Chairman, Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. This committee will prepare the outline for implementing the Emission Trading Scheme in Rajasthan. During this, Member Secretary of the Board Kapil Chandrawal, representatives of Emission Market Accelerator, senior officials of Rajasthan Pollution Control Board and regional officials were present.
