Prominent Indians who laid the foundation of Azad Hind Fauj
In India’s freedom struggle, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose challenged the British by forming the Azad Hind Fauj. Anand Mohan Sahay, resident of Purani Sarai, Nathnagar, was the leader in the preparation for the formation of the army in Japan. He was also a political advisor to Netaji and gave direction to the armed revolution against British rule.
‘Red Rose’, the center of secret activities
According to senior journalist Rajendra Singh, a place named ‘Lal Gulab’ was a powerful center of secret activities of independence. The spark of revolution that arose from here connected many youth with the secret campaign of Azad Hind Fauj.
Invaluable contribution of families and individuals
The names of Jahaji brothers Mir Murtaza and Mir Mubarak of neighboring Narga locality of Nathnagar also appear in the same sequence. Despite being employed under the British rule, both the brothers were secretly active in Netaji’s mission. The entire family of Anand Mohan Sahay was filled with the spirit of patriotism. His wife Sati Sen and daughter Bharati Chaudhary alias Asha Sahay also played an active role in the freedom struggle. Asha Sahay met Netaji at the age of 15 and joined the Rani Jhansi Regiment of Azad Hind Fauj at the age of 17.
