New Delhi, January 25 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the countrymen through the first ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program of the year 2026. This was the 130th episode of the programme. In his address, PM Modi talked about important topics like society, agriculture, health and technology and openly appreciated the efforts of the people. He described the growing enthusiasm in the country about millets as inspiring and linked it to the cultural and nutritional traditions of India.
In ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Modi said, “I want to appreciate all of you for millets. We had declared 2023 as the ‘Year of Millet’, but even after three years, the passion for it in the country and the world is encouraging. Today, not only in India, but throughout the world, the love for food grains is continuously increasing and it is proving beneficial not only for health but also for the income of farmers.
In his address, PM Modi gave the example of Kall-Kurichi district of Tamil Nadu. He said, “A group of women farmers here have become an inspiration for the entire country. About 800 women farmers are associated with ‘Periyapalayam Millet’ FPC. Seeing the increasing demand for millet, these women started a millet processing unit. Now these women are preparing the products made from millet themselves and delivering them directly to the market. This has not only increased their income, but they have also become self-reliant.
PM Modi also mentioned the innovations taking place in the Ramsar area of Rajasthan. He said, “There are more than 900 farmers associated with a company here who cultivate millet. These farmers prepare laddus from millet, which are in great demand in the market.
The Prime Minister said, “There are many temples where only products made from millet are being used as Prasad. ShriAnn is combining tradition, health and employment together.
The Prime Minister said, “While the income of farmers is increasing from millets, the health of common people is also improving. We must consume green grains during winters.
In his address, PM Modi also mentioned the upcoming programs. He told that ‘India AI Impact Summit’ is going to be organized in the month of February, in which experts from all over the world will come to India. PM Modi welcomed all the people attending this summit and said that this topic will be discussed in detail in the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.
In the end, he wished the countrymen a happy Republic Day and gave the message to move forward unitedly.
