On Saturday, a cloudburst in the Yamuna Valley in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand caused heavy losses in Naugaon area. Here a house was buried by the rubble and a water stream filled with mud water entered more than half a dozen houses.
District Magistrate Prashant Arya said that in the evening, clouds erupted in Sevari Fal Patti of Yamuna Valley and debris flowed down due to the boom in the water stream, causing damage in the low -lying areas.
At around 5:30 pm on Saturday evening, a serious incident of cloudburst in Naugaon area of Uttarkashi district emerged, causing heavy havoc in the area. Due to heavy rains, the Naugaon Khad suddenly came out in spate, causing debris and rain water to enter the market and dozens of houses. The situation became so serious that vehicles parked on the roadside also got swept away.

As soon as the incident was reported, the administration took quick action and sent the police and SDRF teams on the spot. Relief and rescue operations have been started immediately. Suddenly water and debris in the market caused panic. Many shops and houses were washed away and people were seen running towards safe places. The rash of the ravine was so strong that vehicles parked on the road were also hit by it. This natural disaster created an atmosphere of fear among the people of Naugaon. Local residents spent overnight in safe places outside the houses.
Heavy rain alert
At the moment, there is no report of any casualty in the incident. The loss is being assessed by the administration. Significantly, Uttarkashi has faced incidents of excess rainfall and cloudburst many times before. Rivers and drains are in spate due to continuous rains. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for heavy rain in the coming days.
