New Delhi, January 26 (IANS). On the occasion of Republic Day, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has shared an inspiring message linking health and self-discipline with ‘Azadi’. According to the ministry, ‘freedom’ for health does not mean that a person should be free, but it is the discipline to choose what is right for his body.

For this, only by adopting habits like sleeping on time, eating seasonal and fresh food, regular exercise and meditation, a person can free himself from diseases, lethargy and weakness.

The Ministry of AYUSH said, self-discipline is not a bondage, but the highest form of self-respect. It talks about prioritizing long-term health and strength over short-term happiness. Appealing to the people, he said that they should choose seasonal vegetables and fruits instead of processed food, be active instead of taking rest, eat thoughtfully instead of eating without thinking and develop the habit of sleeping early instead of staying awake late at night.

The message asked, “What’s one healthy habit you’re disciplining yourself to adopt this year?” The Ministry believes that healthy citizens are the foundation of a strong nation. In such a situation, he inspired people and said that small disciplined steps can create a healthy, energetic and self-reliant India. This message is especially for the youth and general public, who can achieve bigger and better results by bringing small changes in everyday life.

According to experts, the foundation of good health rests on proper nutrition and small daily habits. Give preference to seasonal and local foods, eat meals at regular times and make a habit of drinking lukewarm water. This brings great improvement in physical and mental health.

A balanced diet is the basis of a healthy lifestyle. Adopt a traditional diet and include seasonal fruits, green leafy vegetables and whole grains like wheat, jowar, millet, ragi and maize in your diet. These are easily available locally and are rich in natural nutrients.

The ministry advises to wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly and use them. Prepare food by boiling, steaming or grilling. Choose fresh food and stay away from fried, high sugar-salt and junk foods.

It is most important to eat at regular time. Do not eat too much, stay away from mobile or TV while eating. Drink enough lukewarm water and take some rest after meals. These simple changes help lead a long-term sustainable healthy lifestyle. Health can be strengthened by including these in daily routine.
