New Delhi, 14 September (). The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed a charge sheet against the three accused in the grenade attack on Thakurdwara Sanatan temple in Amritsar. In the charge sheet filed in the special NIA court in Mohali, Vishal Gill alias Chuchi, Bhagwant Singh alias Manna Bhatti and Diwan Singh alias Sunny have been accused of conspiring to plot and carrying out the attack.
Two bike riders threw grenade at the temple on 15 March 2025. The NIA reported that Vishal Gill was one of the two bike riders who carried out the attack. At the same time, Bhagwant Singh was helped in giving shelter to the attackers, hiding grenade, providing motorcycles and providing other logistic assistance.
According to the charge sheet, Diwan Singh alias Sunny is accused of giving shelter to the co -accused and destroying the evidence, while an attacker was killed in a police encounter two days after the attack Gursidak Singh alias Sidki.
Another prominent accused in the case, Sharanjit Kumar, was arrested by the NIA on 5 September 2025 from Gaya, Bihar. Along with that, investigation is also going on against absconding accused Badalpreet Singh sitting abroad.
NIA investigation has revealed that foreign operators had fundged terrorist funding through UPI and Money Transfer Scheme (MTSS) for this attack. The agency is constantly making efforts to identify this terrorist module’s international network and other absconding accused.
This attack is considered part of a major conspiracy to spread fear and communal disharmony in Punjab and other parts of the country.
The NIA had recovered three grenades and a pistol on September 11 in the case, which exposed the international terrorist conspiracy associated with a large weapon and explosive syndicate.
The NIA recovered grenades from Bhamari village of Batala in Punjab after questioning the accused Sharanjit Kumar alias Sunny. The NIA also recovered a.30 bore pistol, which was provided to Sharanjit as a conspiracy to spoil the peace and harmony of Punjab by his foreign bosses. The recovered explosives and weapons have been sent for forensic and technical investigation.
