Agartala, February 1 (IANS). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday praised the Union Budget 2026-27, calling it a visionary and people-centric roadmap. He said that this budget gives priority to last mile development, expansion of infrastructure and targeted development of the North Eastern region.

The Chief Minister told the media that the budget presented in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has received widespread public support and reflects the Centre’s commitment towards inclusive development.

Describing the Budget 2026-27 as one of the best budgets, Saha said that this budget is based on three main pillars, last mile delivery of services, strengthening of nationwide infrastructure, and the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas aur Vishwas’.

He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s emphasis on reaching out to remote and neglected areas is clearly reflected in the budget proposals.

Highlighting key initiatives for the North-East, Saha welcomed the proposed Buddhist Circuit covering Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur and Tripura and said it would provide a big boost to tourism and regional economic activities.

He said tourists will now travel to multiple states in the North-East rather than to any one destination, which will benefit Tripura and the entire region.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the Budget proposal to introduce electric buses in the north-eastern states to improve public transport and connectivity and said more information about it would be shared soon.

Describing the budget as youth-centric and farmer-friendly, Saha said it lays special emphasis on the welfare of youth, farmers and women, while also significantly increasing investment in health, road connectivity and high-speed transport infrastructure.

He said the impact of the Budget will be visible by 2030 and will play an important role in achieving the goal of ‘Developed India’ by 2047.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister, saying the Budget is a visionary roadmap to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.
