New Delhi, February 1 (IANS). Before presenting the general budget, a special tradition was seen at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. President Draupadi Murmu greeted Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary and ministry officials by feeding them curd and sugar.

This meeting was a ritual before the budget presentation, which is considered a symbol of success and positive energy. In India, the tradition of feeding curd and sugar has been going on since ancient times. It is considered important and auspicious to feed this before examination, interview, job or any important work.

The elderly women of the house often say, “Son, go eat curd and sugar, everything will be fine.” It is not just emotional support, but has deep scientific and spiritual significance.

There is also scientific importance of feeding curd and sugar. Yogurt is rich in probiotics, which provide good bacteria. These strengthen the digestive system, increase immunity and prevent stomach problems during stressful times. Sugar immediately becomes a source of glucose, which provides instant energy to the brain and body. This increases concentration, reduces fatigue and prepares you for the challenges of the day.

In Ayurveda, curd is considered cooling and sattvic, which cools the body and keeps the mind calm. Combined with sugar, it creates a balance that is a combination of cooling and energizing. It also helps in increasing serotonin and dopamine in stress, which improves mood and increases self-confidence.

The tradition of curd and sugar that has been going on in India since ancient times also has spiritual and cultural significance. Curd is considered a symbol of purity, peace and positivity. Sweet indicates success, sweetness and good results. Both together become satvik food, which keeps the mind clear and calm.

In some astrological beliefs, curd is associated with the Moon and sugar with Jupiter, which gives auspicious effects like Gajakesari Yoga. This blessing of elders creates positive thinking, which has a direct impact on performance. This tradition exists in different forms across India. Somewhere it is curd-sugar, somewhere it is curd-jaggery but the feeling is the same, may the new beginning be sweet and successful.
