11 laborers hailing from Bagodar, Bokaro and Hazaribagh of Jharkhand have returned safely to India from Dubai. These people were trapped in the trap of a company and were facing troubles for the last few months. These workers heaved a sigh of relief after reaching Kolkata airport on Wednesday. Three laborers are still stranded there, for whose return the Indian Embassy is continuously trying.
Was sent to Dubai with the lure of good salary
These laborers were sent to Dubai EMC Electromechanical Co LLC Was sent to work in the company. The agent had told him that there he would get a salary of 1600 dirhams i.e. about Rs 36 thousand per month. But upon reaching there, they were given only 1000 dirhams. Besides this, the company also did not pay them overtime money and confiscated their passports. According to the rules, air ticket money was also being deducted from the salary of the workers, which is wrong.
Action taken after the video went viral
Frustrated, the workers had made a video of their ordeal and posted it on social media. After this, social worker Sikandar Ali took up this matter and took the matter to the government. As the matter escalated, the Jharkhand government and the Indian Embassy in Dubai intervened. With the help of the embassy, the passports of these laborers were recovered and the way for their return home was cleared. It is being told that the company has also paid about Rs 5.55 lakh as old outstanding salary so that the matter can be resolved.
