People living in relief camps in Delhi are under threat of vector -borne diseases, while the water of Yamuna river entered the civil lines area on Thursday.

The water level of the Yamuna river at Delhi’s old railway bridge (Loha Bridge) reached 207.47 meters between 11 am and 12 noon on Thursday. After being stable for some time, the water level has started to decrease gradually. The water level of Yamuna river was recorded 207.42 meters till 7 pm.

Flood forecast states that the water level will fall to 207.30 meters by 8 am on Friday morning.

Flood water in Mayur Vihar Phase-1 and Yamuna market entered the relief camps, causing the problems of the people displaced due to flood.

Some people, pets and a cow were trapped at the third entity of Osmanpur in North-Eastern Delhi.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) refused to do the rescue work, but the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and the Boat Club employees took out all the cows safely. Cows are being transported to safe places from a cowshed near the iron bridge.

Officials said the situation remains stable in North, Southeast and Shahdara districts.

In Central Delhi, four people were evacuated by DDMA and Boat Club from 9 Upper Bella Road, which was over 80 years of age.

Roads in the Civil Lines area turned into drains, as houses drowned in dirty water. The region has houses of Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister and several cabinet ministers of Delhi.

Local people alleged that the situation comes up whenever the Yamuna danger flows above 205.33 meters. He accused the officials of not making proper preparations.

The disadvantage of Majnu’s mound has affected all kinds of business. Many restaurants now sleep in their offices, the machines of tattoo parlors have been wasted, salons and spa equipment are not working and clothing shops are closed due to water accumulation.

Chandgi Ram Akhara near Civil Lines was also flooded, due to which the Delhi Traffic Police had to order the drivers to adopt an alternative route. Officials explained the reason for this waterlogging in the area of poor drainage in the area.

The Delhi Secretariat was also submerged. The areas around Vasudev Ghat were also submerged.

Some relief camps were submerged in low -lying areas like Mayur Vihar Phase 1, due to which the opposition criticized the government’s arrangements. Sri Marghat Hanuman Baba temple near Kashmiri Gate was also submerged.

One person said, “Every year when the water level of the Yamuna river rises, it gives a bath to the idol of Hanuman ji. This is holy water and we consider it to be revered. ”

PWD officials said that the situation of waterlogging near ISBT and Civil Lines arose due to the closure of the drains.

The District Magistrate’s Office of East Delhi issued a consultation, warning people to stay away from swimming, boating or any kind of entertaining activity in the swollen Yamuna.

According to the consultation, people have been asked to contact the helpline number 1077 of the Emergency Operations Center if any emergency or rescue operations are required.

At the same time, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said that the water level of Yamuna river on Thursday crossed the danger mark, the route reached to the Yamuna Bank Metro Station became inaccessible.

The corporation said that however, the station is operational and passengers can use it as an interchange point.

Passengers have been advised to choose an alternative route to reach Yamuna Bank Station.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has given Lieutenant Governor V.K. Targeting Saxena and the Delhi government, they alleged that they were absent from the relief work going on at the ground level.

Delhi Congress said that seeing many relief camps submerged is ‘shocked’, which has eliminated the basic objective of their existence. The party said that this flaw highlights the ‘lack of’ administrative experience of the government.
