New Delhi, February 17 (IANS). Today is the second day of ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ organized in the national capital. During this, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, while talking to news agency IANS, said that it is the responsibility of the government to provide AI-enabled education to the new generation of the country. He said that this AI Impact Summit organized under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created new energy and enthusiasm among the youth and a large number of students, teachers and experts are participating in this summit.
The Education Minister said that the main focus of this summit is on two topics – AI in education and education in AI. He said that from the traditional knowledge system of India to global knowledge, students and teachers will be empowered through AI. Besides, work will also be done to make the school and college management system more effective.
He said that by increasing awareness about AI, India will move towards global leadership and this summit is an important step in that direction. He said that by increasing awareness about AI, we will come to global leadership position.
Meanwhile, Jayant Choudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, told IANS that AI is going to have a deep and wide-ranging impact on education. For this, special attention will have to be paid to capacity building of teachers and the educational structure will have to be prepared afresh.
He said that for this purpose, IIT Madras has been entrusted with the responsibility of Center of Excellence for AI and education. This center will study what impact AI will have on education, how prepared the country is and what reforms are needed for the future.
Along with this, IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti said that in this summit, special discussions were held on ‘AI for Education’ and ‘Education of AI’. He said that AI can bring change in the education sector at four major levels. First, students can ask their questions to the AI tool without any hesitation and get instant answers, which will increase their conceptual clarity. Second, AI can help parents understand what areas their child has interests and talents in – like music, sports, photography, drawing or other activities. This will help in skill development and career guidance of children.
Third, it will help teachers to understand which student is weak in which subject and what kind of training is needed. This will improve the quality of teaching. And fourth, it will help policy makers to analyze the situation of education at village, district and state level and make better policies.
Thus, AI can prove to be a game changer in the education sector for everyone – students, parents, teachers and policy makers. Through this India AI Impact Summit 2026, India has clearly indicated that it is committed to modernizing and empowering the education system through technology.
