Rouse Avenue Court today announced its verdict in the Delhi Excise Policy Scam charges. This decision has directly brought great relief to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. The court acquitted Manish Sisodia in the excise case. The court clearly said that there was no conspiracy in the entire matter. After hearing the verdict, Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia hugged their lawyer Hariharan in the court room. The court said that the investigating officer should have presented the facts correctly. This is the first time I have seen a charge sheet with so many deficiencies.
Allegations cannot be proved without evidence – Court
The court said that there is not enough evidence to prove the charges against accused numbers 8 and 18, Manish Sisodia and Arvind Kejriwal. Therefore, he is acquitted. The court clearly said that the allegations cannot be proved without evidence. Manish Sisodia was the Deputy Chief Minister at that time and he held the Excise Department. During this time, allegations of scam were made. Sisodia remained in jail for a long time in this case.
ED and CBI filed a case
Both ED and CBI investigating agencies had filed a case against Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor scam case. ED arrested him in this case on March 21, 2024. At that time Kejriwal was the Chief Minister of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal was released from jail in the liquor scam case on July 13, 2024.
A total of 23 people were made accused
A total of 23 people including Arvind Kejriwal were made accused in the alleged scam in Delhi’s liquor policy. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were also arrested in this case. However, after some time both of them were released on bail. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia were still out on bail at the time of the decision. The court has now acquitted him. It is clear that this is a big victory for Aam Aadmi Party, Kejriwal and Sisodia, because both the leaders had declared themselves innocent from the beginning.
