Guwahati, February 27 (IANS). Assam BJP president and Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia on Friday said the party will announce the list of candidates for the assembly elections after Holi (Dol festival).
Speaking to reporters in Nalbari, Assam BJP president and Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia said the party is finalizing its strategy and will soon announce its candidates at an appropriate time.
“BJP’s candidate list will be announced in a phased manner after Dol Utsav,” he said.
Dilip Saikia said that familiar and trusted faces will be given priority.
“The faces that people already see and recognize will be given priority in the electoral list,” he said, making it clear that continuity in ticket distribution and grassroots contact will be considered important.
Dilip Saikia had come to inaugurate the North Nalbari Mandal BJP office, which is another initiative to strengthen the organizational structure of the party ahead of the elections.
Many BJP leaders and workers were present at the inauguration ceremony. Nalbari MLA and Assam Minister Jayant Malla Baruah was also present on the occasion.
Addressing BJP workers and leaders, Saikia stressed the need for organizational unity, preparations at the booth level and constant contact with the public.
He said the BJP is confident of its performance as the party has done good governance and development work at both the central and state levels.
Dilip Saikia said that the party is focused on connecting directly with the public and fulfilling local aspirations.
The state BJP president also appealed to the workers to intensify efforts to effectively convey the achievements of the government to the public.
He said that disciplined organization and coordination will play an important role in the electoral success of the party.
The BJP has been active in strengthening its organizational network in Assam, with senior leaders visiting districts and inaugurating party offices.
