The festival of Holi in Hindu religion symbolizes not only the joy of colors but also deep spiritual beliefs. Holika Dahan is performed on the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month. Eight days before the full moon i.e. from Ashtami of Phalgun Shukla Paksha till the full moon is called Holashtak. According to mythological beliefs, during this time the negative influence of the planets increases and there is violence in the environment, due to which all auspicious and auspicious works come to a complete halt. This period of Holashtak gives us the message of restraint and devotion, which ultimately ends with the fire of Holika Dahan.-Dr. Vipin Sharma, Astrologer

Holashtak and relation of planets
During the eight days of Holashtak, the influence of Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and Rahu is especially intense. This time is considered prohibited for most auspicious works, but the planet is very suitable for peace and spiritual progress.
Measures to be taken before Holi
Do special worship of Hanuman ji. On Tuesday and Saturday, light a jasmine oil lamp to Lord Hanuman and chant ‘Om Hanumate Namah’ 108 times. This will reduce the inauspicious effects of Mars and Saturn.
To get rid of financial crisis, offer water to the Peepal tree for eight days and chant the mantra ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay’. Sprinkle Ganga water and cow urine at the main entrance of the house, this will keep negative powers away and positive energy will be transmitted.
To avoid enemy obstacles and evil eyes.
Before burning Holika, take off 7 red chillies and 7 cloves and put them in the burning Holika. of mustard oil at the main entrance of your house
Light the lamp and chant the mantra ‘Om Dun Durgaayi Namah’ 21 times.
For removal of planetary troubles and horoscope defects
Offer water to the Sun every day during Holashtak and chant ‘Om Suryay Namah’ 11 times.
If there is Rahu-Saturn condition in the horoscope, then offer water, raw milk and black sesame seeds on Shivalinga.
For happiness and peace in the family, prepare satvik food at home and feed it to Brahmins or the needy. Chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’ 108 times, which will eliminate negative energy from the house. There will be a virtuous atmosphere with prosperity in the house.
Why is it considered inauspicious
Before Holika Dahan, many atrocities were committed on Prahlad, due to whose suffering these eight days are considered full of negative energy. The impact of inauspicious actions done during this period lasts for a long time.
Horoscope example: If Saturn is debilitated in a person’s horoscope and Rahu is in the ascendant, then during Holashtak, remedies related to Saturn, Rahu and Ketu should be done, such as lighting a mustard oil lamp and chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.
just don’t assume bad luck
Generally, this period is considered inauspicious and is prohibited for auspicious works, but it would not be appropriate to call it merely ‘inauspicious’. In fact, Holashtak is a special occasion for spiritual progress and self-purification. According to mythological and astrological beliefs, the nature of the planets at this time is fierce, to avoid this, emphasis is laid on meditation, chanting mantras and penance by stopping physical activities. This time is best for meditation, chanting mantras and pacifying the planets. Whoever does these measures, happiness and prosperity will reside in his life and negative planetary defects will be eliminated.
