Bengaluru, 16 September (IANS). India’s Android app Marketplace, Indus Appstore has announced that it has crossed the 10 million device mark.

The localized feature of the app store, which allows users to find apps in English as well as 12 Indian languages, is one of the major factors of its success. About 40 percent of the users browse the app store in regional language, with Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Gujarati the most popular languages.

The app store has a strong presence in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Maharashtra, followed by Karnataka and Telangana major user centers.

Priya M Narasimhan, Chief Business Officer of Indus Appstore, said, “It is a matter of pride for all of us to cross the 10 crore mark and this is an important step in our journey to create a horizontal app store for India. In the apps base of the app, people (Gen-G) in the age group of 18-27 are 33.7 percent and if the 27-44 age group (Jane-Y) is merged, then people under the age of 4 are share of 93.5 percent.

The main users of the Indus appstore on Tier-3 cities are usually men between 28 and 44 years. More than 70 percent of the users are from Tier-3 regions, reflecting strong access to rural and small cities.

The Indus Appstore also has several app categories, with social media apps the most popular across the country, followed by communication, entertainment and finance apps.
