Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the governments of Gulf countries in the 132nd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday, March 29, 2026. He appreciated the cooperation of these countries in taking care and helping the Indian citizens living there amid the ongoing tension in West Asia. PM Modi clearly said that in this time of crisis there is no place for selfish politics and India is facing the global fuel crisis with full strength.

Big steps taken by the government to help Indian immigrants

The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy are continuously working for the security of Indians living in Gulf countries. The government said that every possible help is being provided to the people in this time of crisis. Indian missions are providing round-the-clock services to the people stranded there so that no one faces any problem.

Food, medical aid and accommodation are being provided to Indians through embassies. Special teams are deployed for legal help and documentary work if needed. More than 4,02,000 passengers have been safely brought back to India since 28 February 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs is monitoring the situation every moment through a dedicated control room.

Fuel crisis and the goal of self-reliance in energy sector

Prime Minister Modi said in his address that India is boldly fighting the global fuel crisis. He stressed the need to become ‘self-reliant’ in the energy sector so that India’s dependence on other countries can be reduced. The PM has appealed to political parties and citizens not to spread rumors about the conflict in West Asia and not to give it a political color. He said that this issue is related to the interests of 140 crore people of the country. The month of March has been full of turmoil at the global level, in view of which the government is fully committed to security and welfare.
