In the winter session of Parliament, the proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha houses were adjourned till 2 pm on Tuesday due to continuous uproar by the opposition.
As soon as the proceedings began in the Lok Sabha, a deadlock occurred, due to which the House had to be adjourned.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly urged the opposition to cooperate in running the House proceedings smoothly so that important legislative work and discussions can take place, but even his request could not calm the uproar.
The opposition protests continued, after which the Speaker had to adjourn the Lok Sabha proceedings.
Similarly, the opposition also created a huge ruckus in the Rajya Sabha by protesting on various issues. The opposition’s opposition was mainly regarding SIR (related) matters.
Given the intensity of the opposition’s protests, the Rajya Sabha Chairman also had to take a decision to adjourn the Rajya Sabha till 2 pm to restore peace and ensure functioning of the House.
The ongoing deadlock in both Houses is impacting the important business of the winter session, and the government is seeking continued cooperation from the opposition for smooth discussions.
