Ask for this boon
According to the legend, Adi Purush Kashyap and Aditi had two sons Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaksha. Hiranyakashyap pleased Brahma ji with harsh penance and asked for a boon, ‘My death should neither be in the hands of any human nor in the hands of any animal. Neither any god could kill me nor any demon. I should neither die in the day, nor at night, nor die inside the house, nor outside the house, nor on earth nor in the sky. Neither do I die of weapons, nor did you have left your left in 12th. ‘
Gave many tortures to his son
Then Brahma Ji became infinite by calling him Aastastu. Hiranyakashyap became arrogant due to this boon and his atrocities increased. He fought and snatched heaven from Indra. But his Prahlada was an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu and Hiranyakashyap did not like it at all. He tortured his son with a high peak, crushing with an elephant and burning him in the fire through his sister Holika. But Prahlad had no effect on it and did not give up his devotion.
This is how the boon broke
Finally, when the pitcher of Hiranyakashyap’s sins was filled, then Lord Vishnu appeared in Narasimha avatar. He told Hiranyakashyap that, according to your boon, I am neither human nor animal. It is still evening time, that is, there is neither day nor night. At this time you are on Dehri, that is, neither inside the house nor outside the house.
Hiranyakashyap, not in any weapon or scripture in you, nails with yourself well. And these more months, ie 13 months of the year, are made as a result of your donation. Thus Lord Narasimha killed Hiranyakashyap.
