The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided the Jalandhar residence of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal. Mittal was recently appointed the deputy leader of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, replacing Raghav Chadha. Citing officials, reports said the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raided several locations linked to AAP Rajya Sabha MP and deputy leader Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal in connection with alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

Who is Ashok Kumar Mittal?
Ashok Mittal is the founder of Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab. This is the first private university in the state. He is known as an educationist and social worker. Academician-turned-politician Ashok Kumar Mittal entered active politics in 2022. He became a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha in April 2022. Since then, he has served as a member of several parliamentary committees, including the Defense Committee, the Finance Committee and a committee formed in February 2026. He was also appointed a member of the India-US Parliamentary Friendship Group. Last year, after the Pahalgam terror attack, he was part of an all-party delegation—led by DMK MP Kanimozhi—that visited Russia, Latvia, Slovenia, Greece and Spain.
