Responding to the allegations made by Congress leader Pawan Kheda, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the real UAE passport in question was uploaded by a Pakistani person on social media. He alleged that the Congress party had made digital changes in that passport using AI and Photoshop. He told that a user named “Tipu Sultan” was the first to upload the original passport on social media. He further claimed that the Egyptian passport mentioned in the allegations is also fake. He said that anyone can confirm this by using Google Reverse Image Search.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, the previous day, Pawan Khera and Gaurav Gogoi had held two separate press conferences—one in Delhi and the other in Guwahati. “During our investigation, we found that the entire material presented in yesterday’s press conference was provided by a Pakistani social media group,” he said. He reported that, in the last 10 days, Pakistani television channels have aired at least 11 talk shows focused on the Assam elections—a number never seen before. He said, “The general opinion that emerged from all these talk shows was that the Congress party should win.” He said, “Pakistan’s involvement has now become absolutely clear in yesterday’s press conference. I am confident that the law enforcement agencies will definitely take cognizance of this matter.”
forged documents before elections
Chief Minister Himanta said that, generally, when a person raises an issue before the public by using forged documents, provisions under sections 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) of the IPC are applicable. He pointed out that, of course, provisions related to such crimes are also present in the new Indian Code of Justice (BNS). He explained that when such allegations—underpinned by forged documents—are made with the specific intent to influence the outcome or results of an election, even more stringent penal provisions apply, with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
He further informed that his wife has lodged an FIR (First Information Report) yesterday, and he is confident that the police will register a case under appropriate legal sections and initiate necessary action. He further said that any person can register a company by paying a fee of just US$199. He alleged that after yesterday’s press conference, the Congress party has registered another company in the name of “Rinki”. He concluded by insisting that the Congress party used photographs of passports and other documents which were actually obtained from a Pakistani social media group. A Pakistani social media group helped Gaurav Gogoi. It is very important how Pakistan is trying to influence the Assam elections.
