New Delhi, April 12 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a massive ‘Vijay Sankalp Sabha’ in Siliguri, West Bengal at 1 pm on Sunday. This public meeting is considered important for the two-phase assembly elections to be held at the end of this month.
As the election campaign intensifies across the state, a huge crowd of party supporters and local residents is expected. This public meeting is part of the BJP’s broader public relations programme, which aims to strengthen its presence in the region.
Earlier, the Prime Minister had addressed three huge election rallies in different districts of West Bengal on the same day. After these programs he participated in a grand road show at Bagdogra near Siliguri in Darjeeling district on Saturday evening.
As the Prime Minister’s convoy passed through the streets, thousands of people lined up on the streets and enthusiastically started chanting “Modi-Modi” and “Jai Shri Ram”. A huge crowd of supporters had gathered to get a glimpse of the leader, due to which the atmosphere was filled with excitement.
Initially, Prime Minister Modi was seen greeting the crowd sitting in front of his car next to the driver. Later, he leaned out of the car window and greeted his supporters, holding the BJP election symbol lotus in his hands. The Prime Minister’s direct address further energized the crowd, making the slogans even louder and more enthusiastic.
The BJP has launched an ambitious campaign in West Bengal to mobilize voters ahead of the upcoming elections, organizing over 500 rallies and public meetings. The party is fielding its top central leadership as well as key state leaders in what is being described as its most aggressive election campaign in recent years.
Apart from rallies, the BJP plans to hold daily press conferences starting from April 15 on the occasion of Poila Baisakh. Each day the party will highlight specific aspects of its manifesto, including welfare initiatives, cultural identity and development agenda, including agrarian reforms, women empowerment and infrastructure development.
