The upcoming Triumph Bonneville 400 in India may get a 349cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which is also seen in its other 400cc models.
Triumph Bonneville 400 has once again been spotted testing and this time it has been seen without any cover in India. In the new pictures, its retro look appears stronger than before. It has chrome finish on the crankcase and exhaust, which makes it more classic.
Ever since Triumph Motorcycles in collaboration with Bajaj Auto entered the entry-level middleweight segment, this Bonneville version has been awaited. This smaller Bonneville borrows its design from its larger 900 cc and 1200 cc models. Its look is completely classic, which includes round LED headlight, drop-shaped fuel tank, tall mudguards and a special peashooter style exhaust, which gives it the feel of an old-fashioned bike.
The platform of the Triumph Bonneville 400 is likely to be shared with 400-series bikes like the Triumph Speed 400. However, the company can bring a smaller version of its TR-series engine for India. While the global model may get a 398cc engine, in India it may be offered with a 349cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine to avail the benefits of lower tax.

This will help Triumph to launch it at a more competitive price compared to popular bikes like the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Talking about performance, the 349cc engine can give about 37 PS of power and 32 Nm of torque, although in Bonneville 400 it can be offered with different tuning so that its retro character remains intact.
The hardware setup also supports its classic look, with telescopic forks at the front (with gaiters) and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Also, it can be given a single-pod digital instrument cluster as a modern touch, which will have facilities like smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
The Triumph Bonneville 400 will be the seventh bike in the British brand’s 400cc range, which already includes the Triumph Speed 400, Speed T4, Triumph Scrambler 400X, Scrambler 400 XC, Thruxton 400 and Tracker 400. Since it has already been seen during testing in India, it is believed that it may be launched before its scheduled time (Q4 2026).
