Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could change your dreams at will? This concept is no longer limited to just movies or science fiction. A new revolution has come in the world of Artificial Intelligence, where a special device claims to give control over your dreams. A company called Prophetic AI has introduced a series of smart wearables designed to help initiate “lucid dreaming.” This means that while dreaming, you will be fully aware that you are dreaming—and you will also be able to mold the dream story according to your desires. As exciting as this technology seems right now, it is equally surprising. This glimpse of the future can spark new debates in the world of technology.
How does this technology work?
Prophetic AI’s devices—named “Phase” and “Dual”—look like headbands. According to the company, these devices safely send ultrasonic energy through the forehead to the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This process activates the frontoparietal network—a part of the brain that is typically largely inactive during normal sleep. This network is deeply connected to our awareness and decision-making abilities. When this network becomes active, the person realizes that he is dreaming at the moment. After this, he is able to control the environment and events inside his dream.
Reading the brain through EEG sensors
These wearables are equipped with EEG (Electroencephalogram) sensors, which help in monitoring and understanding brain activities. Although this technology is also used in advanced projects like Neuralink, those applications usually require implants to be placed in the brain. However, Prophetic AI claims that its device can accurately read brain activity without any surgery. According to the company, this technology is especially beneficial for those who find it difficult to remember their dreams or who dream very rarely.
Difference in price and model
The Prophetic Dual is priced at $449—which is roughly equivalent to ₹43,000. The delivery of this device is expected to start by the end of this year. The Prophetic Phase, meanwhile, is priced at $1,299—equivalent to approximately ₹1.22 lakh—and will ship next year. According to the company, the Phase model is more advanced, as it allows more precise control over ultrasound. This gives the user more control over their prefrontal activity and dreams. This is the reason why its price is also quite high.
