New Delhi, June 4 (IANS). The Central Government is moving rapidly towards making all the Assemblies and Legislative Councils of the country completely digital through the National e-Vidhan Application (Neva). In this series, Union Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal have issued their messages regarding the third national conference of Neva being organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the message that he is extremely happy to know that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is organizing the 3rd National Conference of National e-Vidhan Application (Neva) with the aim of digitally transforming the functioning of all the legislatures of the country. He informed that Neva is a mission mode project of the Government of India, which aims to make the functioning of all Assemblies and Legislative Councils paperless, transparent and more effective.
Kiren Rijiju said that Neva has emerged as a transformative digital platform, which has made the functioning of legislatures more accountable, efficient and accessible to citizens. He informed that so far 28 states and union territories have signed MoUs to connect with Neva, while 20 legislatures have become fully active on this platform.
He also appealed to the remaining states and union territories to join this platform as soon as possible and said that this is an important step towards realizing the vision of ‘One Nation, One Application’. He expressed hope that the conference will share experiences, challenges and best practices among the states and nodal departments, thereby paving the way for rapid expansion of Neva across the country.
Arjun Ram Meghwal said in his message that this conference organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs is an important opportunity to review the progress of the Neva Project and further speed up its implementation. He said that this project is a big step towards strengthening parliamentary democracy through technology.
Arjun Ram Meghwal said that NEVA is making the functioning of legislative institutions more transparent, accountable, effective and environment-friendly by digitalizing and modernizing them. Through this, all the legislatures of the country will come on a common digital platform and it will be easier for the citizens to access their functioning.
He expressed confidence that the discussions and presentations during the conference will lead to better coordination among the States and Union Territories and will help in faster adoption of Neva platform across the country. Also, he congratulated all the participants attending the conference and wished for its successful organization.
