The temperature is increasing rapidly in many parts of the country, and its effect is clearly visible on the health of common people as well as pregnant women. During pregnancy, many physical and hormonal changes are already taking place in the body. In such a situation, extreme heat can increase these problems even further. According to experts, even a little carelessness in this season can cause concern for both the mother and the child in the womb. Therefore, let us now tell you what difficulties pregnant women may have to face amid rising temperatures, and how they can take care of themselves properly.

Why do problems increase in summer season?

Doctors say that during pregnancy, the core temperature of the body remains slightly higher than normal, and blood circulation also increases. As a result, when the outside temperature is high, the body has to work harder to regulate its internal temperature and keep itself cool. As a result, problems like dehydration, fatigue, dizziness, headache and weakness become common. Many women may also have problems like excessive sweating, restlessness, feeling of excessive heat in the body and fluctuations in blood pressure. These problems can increase further due to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

What serious dangers are involved?

According to experts, extreme heat can lead to serious conditions like ‘heat exhaustion’ and ‘heatstroke’. Deficiency of water and essential minerals can cause weakness, confusion, severe headache and even fainting. In some cases, persistent dehydration can also increase the risk of preterm labor and low birth weight. Therefore, it is very important to recognize these symptoms in time.

What do doctors recommend?

According to doctors, pregnant women should make some important changes in their lifestyle during the summer season. For example, they should drink adequate amounts of water throughout the day to avoid dehydration. They should also include fluids like coconut water, buttermilk and fresh fruit juices in their diet. Additionally, eating a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables and essential nutrients is also very beneficial. Avoid the intense midday heat; If you have to go out, keep your head covered. Also, avoid doing too much physical effort and keep taking rest breaks in between.

Pay attention to clothes and lifestyle

In the summer season, wearing light-coloured, loose-fitting cotton clothes is the most comfortable option. This ensures proper circulation of air around the body and helps in reducing sweating. Conversely, tight or synthetic clothing may be uncomfortable. Apart from this, so that the body gets continuous energy, it is more beneficial to eat light food at small intervals throughout the day. Consumption of fried and spicy foods should be limited. Also, if you experience symptoms like frequent dizziness, extreme fatigue, severe headache, vomiting or fainting, you should immediately contact a doctor. Regular medical check-ups are also very important, so that any possible health problems can be detected in time.
