Ranchi: Provincial spokesperson of Jharkhand Parents Association and life member of Indian Red Cross Society, Sanjay Saraf has said that World Red Cross Day is celebrated every year on 8th May, dedicated to the ideal of humanity, service and compassion across the world. World Red Cross Day was started in 1948 to commemorate the founder of Red Cross, Henry Dunnett, on his birthday, 8th May, every year. He took the initiative to help the injured and suffering people during war and disaster. The main objective of celebrating World Red Cross Day is to make people aware of human service, disaster relief and health assistance. This day reminds us that true humanity lies in helping the needy beyond caste, religion, language and boundaries.
The Red Cross organization provides impartial assistance in wars, natural disasters, epidemics and other crises. The importance of this day is very wide. The Red Cross has saved the lives of millions of people around the world and provided relief to them in times of crisis.
