New Delhi . Amidst the tension between Iran-America and Hormuz, there is a crisis regarding oil. All the countries of the world are on alert regarding the oil and economic crisis. Meanwhile, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has given his plan on how to work amid the oil crisis and how to deal with the situation. PM Luxon released a video on social media platform He said, “I’ve just given an update on our fuel response plan to make sure that if there ever is a prolonged fuel shortage around the world, New Zealand is super prepared and I just want to make sure you hear it here too. It’s great news and I want to make it clear to everyone who might be worried about it, fuel is in very good supply in New Zealand. Supply is on the way and it’s very, very rare to have a shortage here. Actually “Something will happen that we will not be able to get even 30 per cent of our diesel in a month and in fact there will be a six-month interruption in that supply.”
PM Luxon further said that what we have seen after our visit to Singapore and the visit of officials to South Korea, actually our refineries, where we get the fuel, have done a very good job of finding other sources of crude oil, which they can process and put on ships and send to New Zealand. But, as a responsible Prime Minister and Government, it means that we are planning ahead so that we are in a good position to deal with that very difficult situation when there is severe fuel shortage for a long period of time.
The Prime Minister of New Zealand said, “We have done some work recently, our agreement with Genergy has been finalized, which means we have an extra 90 million liters of diesel that will be in new tanks, which we have also accelerated to the end of June. That gives us nine days of extra diesel cover which is very important and the fuel response plan that we talked about today ensures that in phase four, in this very unlikely phase where we have any “Even if there is a significant, prolonged disruption in fuel supply, we will be clear about how we will prioritize essential services, food and freight movement, many other commercial activities and, of course, general public use of fuel.”
PM Luxon also said, “As I said earlier, this is really an unpleasant development because we are really confident that our fuel importers have got confirmed orders till July, planned orders till August and given some of the decisions we have taken long ago, we are in a very good position. Anyway, this is where we are in the fuel situation, please don’t panic about it because we have very good supply, but just have that confidence. That if we come across any unpleasant incident and in a difficult situation, we are well prepared for that situation also.”
