Ahmedabad, May 13 (IANS). Cab service company Uber will set up the first data center in India in collaboration with Adani Group. The reason for this is the country’s emergence as a big innovation hub for the company. This information was given by Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi on Wednesday.
Sharing details about the development after meeting Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, the Uber CEO said India is fast becoming a leading innovation hub for the global mobility platform.
“It was great to meet Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad this morning and have the opportunity to further strengthen our existing partnership with the Adani Group,” he said in a post on social media platform X.
He further added, “As India is rapidly emerging as a major innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data center in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our technology.”
The proposed data center is expected to support Uber’s growing technology and innovation operations in India. India has become an important market for the company not only in mobility services, but also in engineering and product development.
“This investment, which is expected to be ready by the end of this year, will help us grow at scale from India to the world,” the CEO said.
This latest partnership announcement comes at a time when Adani Group is rapidly expanding its digital infrastructure in India.
Last month, Adani Group’s joint data center company with EdgeConnex had announced the development of a 1 GW AI-ready data center platform in Visakhapatnam.
According to an official statement released on April 28, approximately $10 billion will be invested by the Adani Group in this ambitious project.
With Google as the infrastructure partner in this project, AdaniConnex is developing scalable, AI-ready data center infrastructure, supported by a robust and integrated energy ecosystem.
