In Sanatan tradition and Samudrik Shastra, even small events of life have been linked with signs and omens. It is believed that some events happening around the person can give indications related to the future or circumstances. These beliefs also include sudden tearing of clothes, burning or getting mud on them.
According to Samudra Shastra, clothes are not only a medium to cover the body but are also considered to be related to the energy and condition of the person. According to religious beliefs, auspicious and inauspicious signs are predicted depending on the part of the cloth which is damaged.
What does tearing of clothes indicate?
It is believed that if a cloth suddenly gets torn at a particular place, it is not considered a normal incident. It is said in Samudra Shastra that-
If the right side of a garment tears, it is considered a good sign in some cases. Tearing of the left side is considered a sign of mental stress or some obstacle. Tearing of clothes near the waist or pocket is considered a sign of financial loss or unnecessary expenditure.
However, these beliefs are based on religious and traditional beliefs.
What does burning of clothes indicate?
If any part of the clothes gets burnt without any major reason, then this is also seen as a sign. According to some beliefs-
Burning of cloth in the front is considered a sign of dispute or tension. Burning of cloth on the back side is considered a symbol of freedom from old troubles. Burning of clothes during puja or auspicious work is considered a sign of caution.
Experts say that such incidents should not be seen as superstition, but as traditional signs.
What does it mean to get mud on clothes?
In Samudrik Shastra, getting mud on clothes has also been linked to different signs.
Getting mud on clothes during a journey is considered a sign of sudden obstacles. In some beliefs, it is also said to be a sign of financial gain or new opportunities, especially if mud gets near the feet.
Do these signs really have any effect?
According to spiritual experts, beliefs about omens and bad omens are part of centuries-old cultural beliefs. Many people associate these with experience and tradition, whereas science considers them a coincidence.
Experts also say that instead of getting scared or confused after seeing any incident, it is more important to remain alert and positive.
What does tradition say?
In Indian tradition, it is believed that every event of life gives some indication to the person. Therefore, in ancient times, people used to carefully observe nature, clothes, dreams and daily events.
