India’s growing friendship between China and Russia is plagued by America. Meanwhile, the White House business advisor Peter Navarro has again attacked India for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China on Monday.
Talking to reporters, Navaro criticized Prime Minister Modi, saying that it is “going to bed with an authorist”, and he described the meeting as shameful.
He also emphasized that India needs not Russia, but America, Europe and Ukraine. He urged New Delhi to stop buying crude oil at cheap prices from Moscow.
Peter Navaro said, “It is shameful to see Modi, the world’s largest democracy leader with the world’s two biggest dictators – Putin and Xi Jinping -. It has no meaning. I do not understand what he is thinking. We hope that he will understand that he should live with Russia, not with Russia, but with us, Europe and Ukraine.”
Earlier, the Trade Advisor of the White House had made sharp remarks against India, which was made soon after the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Xi Jinping during the Shanghai Cooperation Sangathan (SCO).
Navaro had said, “So, see, Modi is a great leader. But I do not understand why he is getting mixed up with Putin and Xi Jinping. While he is the leader of the world’s biggest democracy. I will just tell the Indian people that please understand what is happening here. Brahmins are earning profits at the cost of Indian people. We have to stop it.”
Navaro’s comment has come amid increasing stress between Washington and New Delhi, as 50 percent of tariffs have been imposed on Indian goods, including 25 percent penalty for purchasing Russian oil.
Prime Minister Modi in his address to the SCO stressed the need to increase the contact between members to promote trade. He said, “India has always believed that strong contact not only promotes business but also opens the doors of development and faith.”
Russian President Putin said that dialogue within the SCO would help laying the foundation of a new Eurasian security system, which would replace the old Eurosentric and Euro-Alantic models.
Putin said, “SCO is constantly increasing its impact in resolving international issues. National currencies are being widely used in mutual agreements of trade between SCO countries. The speed of cooperation within SCO is effective.”
Additionally, Chinese President Xi Jinping, while addressing the 25th meeting of the Council of State of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, called for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to maintain fairness and justice.
