Emphasizing ‘self -reliance’ on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that dependence on other countries is the main enemy of India and the country should make everything from (semiconductor) chips to ships.
He was addressing the ‘Samriddhi Samriddhi’ program at Gandhi Maidan in Bhavnagar in Gujarat, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of a total of Rs 34,200 crore projects. He said, “In the true sense, there is no major enemy of India in the world. Dependence on other countries is the only enemy of India. We have to end this dependence on others. We have to understand that the more we depend on others, the higher the failure rate will be.
The Prime Minister said, “From semiconductor chips to ships, we have to make everything. For peace, stability and prosperity, the world’s most populous country will have to become self -reliant. He said that all the problems of India have only one cure and that is self -sufficiency.
Underlining the financial burden of dependence, Modi said that foreign companies have to pay six lakh crore rupees annually to send their goods worldwide. He said, “This is almost equal to our defense budget.
