New Delhi, May 23 (IANS). In today’s busy routine, body stiffness, back pain and mental stress have become common problems. In such a situation, yoga not only makes the body flexible and strong, but also helps in keeping the mind calm. Ardha Ustrasana is also included in these yogasanas, which provides many benefits to the body.
This asana is also known as ‘Half Camel Pose’, which is a less intense form of Purna Ustrasana. This asana is especially beneficial for those who work sitting for a long time or feel stiffness in the waist and shoulders.
With regular practice, it plays an important role in making the spine flexible, reducing stress and keeping the body energetic. The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India has described it as a beginner level yoga asana. According to the ministry, it stretches the front part of the body (chest and abdomen) and strengthens the back. This is a simple form of complete ‘Ustrasana’ (camel pose), which can be easily incorporated into the daily routine.
By doing this regularly, the stomach muscles get stretched, which improves the digestive system and provides relief from problems like constipation. This asana helps in opening the heart chakra, thereby reducing stress and anxiety. The muscles of the hips, thighs and back become stronger, thereby increasing the overall strength of the body. Additionally, it improves blood circulation, which is considered beneficial for heart health.
This asana is ideal for beginners and intermediate level candidates, as it can be performed easily as per the physical capacity. With regular practice, this asana not only increases physical flexibility, but also encourages mental stability and self-confidence.
However, people who have hernia, arthritis, dizziness, serious injury or pain in the stomach or back should avoid doing this asana. Additionally, people suffering from severe heart disease or high blood pressure should also not practice it without expert advice.
