Kolkata, May 24 (IANS). BJP leader Locket Chatterjee met Kerala Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U. Kelkar has been targeted for being appointed secretary to Chief Minister VD Satheesan. He said that doing such work reflects the working style and thinking of Congress.
BJP leader Locket Chatterjee, while speaking to news agency IANS, alleged that Congress worked to weaken the country in the last 70 years, while BJP is working towards uniting the entire country.
Referring to the importance of West Bengal, Locket Chatterjee said that the state is strategically important as it is connected to the borders of three countries. He said that BJP has been dreaming of taking West Bengal forward on the path of development and security for a long time and now it seems to be gradually coming true.
Supporting the ongoing action against illegal construction and corruption in the state, he said that even before the BJP government came to power, it had been decided that all types of illegal and corrupt activities would be strictly banned in West Bengal.
He claimed that within just 15 days of the formation of the new government, many illegal constructions in Tiljala area have been removed by using bulldozers. According to him, this action is a big step towards strengthening law and order and ending corruption.
The BJP leader also targeted Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee. He said that if illegal actions have been committed by any public representative, then action should be taken against him under the law.
He said that the Constitution and law give equal rights to all citizens and no person can be above the law. Those who have constructed buildings illegally will also have to face the consequences.
Locket Chatterjee also termed the issue of illegal immigrants in the state as serious and said that for many years, instructions have been received from the Home Ministry regarding identification and action against such people.
He claimed that some people have left the state, but many are still trying to stay here without valid documents. Strict action will be taken in such cases under BJP rule.
