New Delhi, May 25 (IANS). Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reach Bikaner in Rajasthan on Monday on a two-day visit. During this, he will review the border security arrangements and hold meetings with senior officials on issues related to the border districts of Rajasthan.
Giving information about this, Union Law Minister and Bikaner MP Arjun Ram Meghwal had said that Home Minister Shah will reach Bikaner on Monday night and will stay there at night. Subsequently, on May 26, he will chair a high-level meeting with senior officials to review border security, anti-infiltration measures and ongoing development work in the border areas.
According to Meghwal, the main objective of this meeting will be to strengthen the security system, improve coordination between various agencies and expand infrastructure in the border areas.
Home Minister Shah is also scheduled to visit Sanchu border post, where he will interact with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and seek their direct opinion on the current security situation, operational challenges and future strategies.
Meghwal described the visit as strategically important and said that discussions with BSF and other security agencies will play an important role in assessing issues related to border management and development. He said that the Home Minister is expected to review the existing security arrangements, anti-infiltration measures and coordination mechanism between various agencies working on the border.
The discussions are also likely to include development issues related to the border districts and hybrid warfare, as well as plans for a new project to combat cross-border narcotics and arms smuggling via drones.
In view of the proposed tour, the police administration has made extensive security arrangements.
Chief Secretary V Srinivas on Saturday reviewed the security, coordination and administrative preparations related to the visit of Home Minister Shah and the upcoming border security review meeting in Bikaner. The main focus of this review meeting held at the Secretariat was on strengthening the security arrangements and increasing coordination between the agencies working in the border districts of Rajasthan.
Srinivas directed all concerned departments and agencies to work in close coordination among themselves to ensure effective surveillance and strong security mechanisms in the border areas.
He stressed the need for greater vigilance in sensitive areas, faster sharing of intelligence and further strengthening of joint operation systems.
A detailed review of law and order in the border districts, existing security arrangements, measures to control drug trafficking, drone surveillance and coordination between various agencies was also done. Senior officials of various departments and security agencies participated in this meeting.
Representatives of Border Security Force (BSF), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Department of Telecommunications, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Border Roads Organization (BRO) also participated.
Officials said that this meeting was organized before the visit of Home Minister Shah to ensure mutual coordination in security preparations and effectively manage the border issues.
