Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is soon going to launch a cool new feature called “Spoiler Messages”. When it comes to chatting, everyone is more cautious; Currently, the app has end-to-end encryption, which is specifically designed to keep chats private. However, now it is preparing to add another layer of privacy through the Spoiler Messages feature. Like Telegram, you’ll soon be able to hide (or preview) sensitive information – like OTPs or other secret messages – using the Spoiler feature on WhatsApp. Users participating in the beta test will be able to use this feature soon; If everything goes well, it can soon be rolled out to everyone on a large scale. In this report, we’ll explain in detail how this feature works and how you can use it. WABetaInfo – a website that closely follows WhatsApp developments – recently shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing off this new feature; This feature hides the message behind a blurred layer.
How does WhatsApp’s Spoiler Message feature work?
To use the Spoiler Message feature, simply type your message, then long-press on the text. Next, select the entire message; Once selected, you’ll see a menu of options like Translate, Cut, Copy, and Select All. In addition to these common options, you’ll also see an icon with three dots (ellipsis).
When you tap the three-dot icon, a stack of formatting and usage options will pop up – including Share, Undo, Bold, Italic, Strikethrough, Monospace, Spoiler, and Manage Apps. You have to select the “Spoiler” option. The person receiving the message will see the message as blurred text. To view and read the message, the recipient simply has to tap on the message. Support for the Spoiler Message feature may also be extended to videos and photos in the future.
