Vaibhav Suryavanshi: Indian cricket’s young and emerging player Vaibhav Suryavanshi is once again in the headlines. This time the reason is not his batting, but a special rule implemented before the England tour. 15 year old Vaibhav will have to use a separate changing room from the senior players of his team during the England tour. This decision has been taken under the child safeguarding rules of ICC. According to ICC and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) rules, players under the age of 16 cannot share the same changing room with adult players.
ECB confirmed the rule, protocol will be applicable in the entire series
The ECB has confirmed this arrangement and said that this series to be held in England comes under ICC rules, hence all safeguarding rules will be applicable. Along with this, ECB’s own “Safe Hands” policy will also remain in force during the entire tour. Its objective is to ensure the safety and mental and physical protection of young players. However, according to reports, this rule will be limited to changing rooms only. This will not have any impact on Vaibhav’s cricket activities.
Vaibhav will be fully involved in matches and team activities
According to British media reports, Vaibhav will be fully involved in all cricket related work of Team India. He will be a part of the dressing room during the matches, participate in team meetings, practices and will be present in all other activities. They will be given separate arrangements only at the time of changing clothes before and after the match.
This rule will not apply on Ireland tour
This rule is being implemented under the ICC’s jurisdiction during the England tour, but there will be no such restriction in the two T20 matches against Ireland. The Ireland Series is held under the control of Cricket Ireland, so these safeguarding rules will not apply there.
Normal arrangements already in domestic cricket and IPL
There is no such strict system in domestic cricket and IPL in India. Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already shared the same dressing room with senior players while playing for Rajasthan Royals and did not have to face any separate arrangement.
fast growing cricket career
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s cricket career is progressing very fast. He made his debut in IPL at the age of just 14. In his very first season, he scored 252 runs for Rajasthan Royals. After this, in the IPL 2026 season, he performed brilliantly and scored 776 runs and became the highest run-scorer of the tournament. He also made a big record in his name this season by hitting 72 sixes, breaking the record of a legend like Chris Gayle.
Recent explosive performance
Recently, playing for India A, Vaibhav played a stormy innings of 94 runs in just 29 balls in the final of the triangular series against Sri Lanka A. During this, he also created a new record by completing his half-century in just 11 balls.
All eyes on T20 debut
Now all eyes are on the T20 match against Ireland to be held in Belfast on Friday. If Vaibhav gets a chance in this match, he can become India’s youngest international cricketer. Currently this record is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who made his debut in international cricket at the age of 16.
