New Delhi, June 17 (IANS). Nature has given us many such trees and plants which are a treasure of both taste and health. Jungle Jalebi is also one of them. It is also called Vilayati Imli or Manila Imli in many places. Its taste is slightly sweet and sour, which is liked by everyone from children to adults.
The scientific name of Jungle Jalebi is Pithecellobium dulce. Its trees can grow up to about 15 to 20 meters tall and grow easily in a variety of climatic conditions. This is the reason why it is seen in many parts of India.
The biggest identity of this tree is its curved pods, which look exactly like Jalebi. When the beans are ripe, their color changes and white or pink colored sweet-sour pulp emerges inside them. This part is edible.
Jungle Jalebi is not only special in taste, but is also considered very beneficial for health. Many important nutrients including Vitamin C are found in its fruits, which help in increasing the body’s immunity. Its regular consumption provides energy to the body and maintains better health.
In rural areas, people eat its fruits directly raw. Apart from this, delicious chutney is also made from it, which increases the taste of food manifold. In many places it is also included in traditional dishes. In today’s time when people are moving towards expensive and processed food, natural fruits like Jungle Jalebi are a good option. Along with taste, it also takes care of your health.
The jungle jalebi tree is also considered important from environmental point of view. It grows well even in less water and helps in soil conservation.
