New Chandigarh, May 28 (IANS). Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) lost by 47 runs against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday in the eliminator match of IPL 2026. SRH’s journey in the tournament ended with the defeat at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium. Captain Pat Cummins admitted that losing wickets at the wrong time was costly for the team.
After the defeat in the eliminator, captain Cummins said, “I think we were in the match for most of the time and we maintained the run rate. We probably lost too many wickets at the wrong time, which made the chase difficult, although we gave ourselves a good chance.”
Captain Cummins expressed happiness on reaching the playoffs twice in the last 3 years. He said, “Yes, that’s right. I think we were just a little away from finishing in the top two. What more can you ask for from the players. All the players performed brilliantly and played very good cricket.”
Cummins praised the explosive innings of 15-year-old Rajasthan Royals batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He said, “Yes, Vaibhav played a brilliant innings. I think against him you don’t have much options. Obviously it was a good pitch, but the chances of making a mistake were very less. If you miss the yorker against him, he will not leave you.”
In the eliminator match, Rajasthan Royals, batting first, scored 243 runs on the scoreboard after losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. On behalf of the team, Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted in a stormy style and played a strong inning of 97 runs in 29 balls. At the same time, Dhruv Jurel scored 50 runs facing just 21 balls. Chasing the target of 244 runs, SRH was all out for 196 runs. For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Nitish Kumar Reddy scored the highest score of 38 runs, while Sahil Arora contributed 35 runs. In bowling for RR, Joffra Archer took 3 wickets and Nandre Berger took 2 wickets.
