Washim, 21 September (). The police uncovered the major incident of mobile theft in Resid city of Washim district of Maharashtra in 72 hours. The police have arrested an accused with full goods of 7 lakh 34 thousand rupees of theft.
The thief stole 31 mobile phones and other electrical items by cutting the shutter of Sagar Mobile and Electrical Shop in Civil Lines area on the night of 15 September.
When the owner opened the shop in the morning, he came to know about the theft incident. After this, he informed the police about the theft. As soon as the complaint was lodged, a special team of Resid Police was formed under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Anuj Taare.
Police identified accused Shahil Shah Hakim Shah (18) on the basis of secret information and technical assistance. Investigation revealed that the accused Shahil Gajanan Nagar lives in Resid.
The accused was changing its location to constantly dodge the police. Police received information that Shahil Shah was roaming in cities like Kolhapur, Satara and Pune, after which the police formed a team and raided Pune and arrested the accused.
After interrogation, the police recovered all the stolen 31 mobile phones, smart clock and electrical goods, which are worth Rs 7 lakh 34 thousand.
Police believe that the accused may be involved in several other incidents. He is currently questioned. The police is also searching for his associates involved in the earlier incidents.
Police officials said many expensive phones have been recovered. For how long the accused has been carrying out the incident, it is being ascertained. It is also being investigated as to whom the accused was about to sell mobile and other electronic equipment.
