The action was taken in consultation with the state government following the findings of a high-level inquiry into alleged irregularities in appointments made during the tenure of Dr. Devswaroop as Vice-Chancellor of Rajasthan University.
According to officials, Dr. Devaswaroop allegedly committed serious irregularities in the recruitment processes to favor certain candidates in disregard of University Grants Commission (UGC) rules and established university procedures.
The decision has been taken after an inquiry committee report was submitted, which allegedly found evidence of procedural violations and irregularities.
The investigation was initiated following a complaint filed by an academician, in which he alleged serious irregularities and discrimination in the selection process.
Taking cognizance of the allegations, Governor Haribhau Bagde constituted a three-member high-level inquiry committee under the chairmanship of eminent educationist and Vice Chancellor of Kota University, Dr. Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat.
The Committee examined the recruitment documents, interview evaluation sheets and records of selections made during the tenure of Dr. Devswaroop at the University of Rajasthan. It also reviewed the university’s records, interview process and compliance with UGC rules.
After detailed investigation, the committee submitted its report to Raj Bhavan. The inquiry report also raised concerns regarding reservation policies and compliance with UGC guidelines.
Based on these findings, Raj Bhavan initiated disciplinary action, resulting in the immediate removal of Dr. Devaswaroop from his current post.
