After the NEET-UG paper leak scam, the exam is now scheduled to be re-conducted on June 21, 2026. The Central Government has started preparations on a war footing to ensure that the upcoming re-examination is completely safe and secure. The government is determined not to take any risks regarding the NEET-UG examination to be held on June 21. This is why the government is also considering taking the help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) for the NEET re-examination. Meanwhile, an important hearing related to the NEET paper leak case is to be held in the Supreme Court today.

Rajnath Singh held a meeting
In fact, last Thursday an important high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh and senior officials of the Education Ministry were present in this meeting. During this meeting, the entire examination process was reviewed in detail – from the security of teachers involved in question paper preparation, to the printing and transportation of the paper, and the security arrangements at the examination centres. The main objective of the government is to ensure that this time there is no scope for any kind of mistake.

Will the government take the help of Air Force?

According to information received from sources, the meeting also discussed the use of Indian Air Force aircraft to safely transport NEET-UG question papers to the examination centres, which will completely eliminate the possibility of any tampering or leak. However, this decision is yet to be finalized. Now this proposal will be placed before Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the final decision.

Prime Minister Modi himself is keeping a close watch

According to information given by news agency PTI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the preparations for the re-examination to be held on June 21. Every update related to the examination process – whether small or big – is being sent directly to the Prime Minister. The main objective of the government is to conduct this massive examination – which involves around 23 lakh students – successfully without any controversies or malpractices. For this, assistance is also being sought from state governments. Meanwhile, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that vigorous preparations are underway to handle the entire process – from preparation of question papers to the actual conduct of the exam, and finally, safely returning the question papers to the designated centers after the completion of the exam. He said that help is being taken from the state governments in this regard, and coordination is being done with them at the district level. The Education Minister stressed that in an effort to make the examination student-centric, the ministry has taken the initiative to refund the fees paid for the previous examination session to reduce stress among students. Apart from this, the fees for the upcoming exams will be waived off. With the help of state governments, new preparations are being made to ensure the security of all the examination centres. The exam is to be conducted in 100,000 classrooms spread across 5,400 centers across the country.

Supreme Court will hear this case today
It is worth noting that the Supreme Court is going to hear important petitions related to the NEET-UG paper leak case today, Friday. The hearing assumes special significance as the petitions filed by the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) and the United Doctors Front (UDF) have sought dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and implementation of a court-monitored, computer-based examination system for future examinations. The Supreme Court had issued a notice in this matter earlier this week. However, no reply has been filed yet by the Central Government, NTA or CBI.
