New Delhi, May 30 (IANS). The Central Government has taken a big step towards making the resolution of complaints of common citizens easier, faster and effective. Launching the new AI-based chatbot named ‘Samadhan Didi’, Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh described it as an important initiative towards taking the government’s grievance redressal system to the common people.

Addressing the media, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that ‘Samadhan Didi’ is currently available in all the 22 scheduled Indian languages of the Constitution. Along with this, the government is also working towards including regional and local languages in it.

He said that India is a country of linguistic diversity, hence it is important to make government services and grievance redressal platforms available in languages in which citizens feel comfortable. This will ensure participation of more people and make the system more inclusive.

The Union Minister of State said that before the year 2014, where about two lakh complaints were registered annually, now this number has increased to about 25 to 30 lakh. He said this increase in the number of complaints is a result of increased public confidence, timely action and better accountability.

Jitendra Singh also said that many countries have shown interest in India’s grievance redressal system. Maldives, Mauritius and many countries in Africa want to study this model of India. He said that the government will also give wide publicity to ‘Samadhan Didi’ through social media so that more and more people can take advantage of it.

‘Samadhan Didi’ is a voice-based, multilingual complaint registration assistant, which features AI-based smart categorization. Citizens will be able to lodge their complaints through voice or text in various Indian languages. The chatbot will analyze the complaint and automatically send it to the relevant department and category, so that people do not have to go through the complicated process of selecting the ministry or department.
