Jaipur. Enforcement Branch-II of the Commercial Tax Department has taken important action in a case of GST evasion of more than Rs 50 crore and arrested an accused. Accused Mahesh Chand Gupta, son of Kanhaiya Lal Gupta, resident of plot no. 204, Bangad Mansion, 2/305, Sector-2, Vidyadhar Nagar, Jaipur, was produced before the Special Court (Economic Offenses), Jaipur on Wednesday, the court has sent him to judicial custody. It is also being thoroughly investigated whether any other person or firm has a role in this matter or not. Investigation found that Mahesh Chand Gupta operated the JSM Industries firm. Secret supply/withdrawal of taxable goods has been made through this firm without issuing tax challan and without paying tax. The firm bought and sold mainly almonds on a large scale in the financial years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. It was not recorded in the accounting books, nor were tax challans issued. In this case, huge loss has been caused to the revenue by evading GST of more than Rs 50 crore. From verification of documents and digital records and audit report, it was found that the firm purchased, stored and sold goods secretly without making entries in the account books. On this basis, the accused Mahesh Chand Gupta, involved in GST evasion, was arrested by the Enforcement Branch-II under Section 69 of the Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
This action was taken by the team of Sandeep Kumar Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Assistant Commissioner, Sunil Dutt Sharma, State Tax Officer, Rahul Natani, State Tax Officer under the direction of Babu Singh Chauhan, Additional Commissioner (Administration), Enforcement Branch-II and under the supervision of Circle-A Joint Commissioner Harendra Chaudhary.
The Commercial Tax Department is fully committed to completely destroy the syndicate of tax evasion and transactions being done without legal documents in the state. For this, continuous action is being taken by the department. The department will continue to take such legal actions in the future to ensure compliance with the Goods and Services Tax Act and a transparent revenue system.
