Industry involvement-private sector participation mandatory for sustainable startups and country's economic growth: Jitendra Singh

Jammu, 21 September (). Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh attended the ‘Lead Impact Conclave’ on Sunday. Emphasizing the importance of engagement with industry and private sector participation in the event, he said that both are mandatory for sustainable startups and India’s sustainable economic growth. During this, he highlighted the schemes and achievements of the central government.

Addressing the ‘Lead Impact Conclave’, Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the government has created a competent environment on its behalf, in which the work is being done to promote the startups with the industry to promote their enterprises and take the Indian economy forward. He said that startups have emerged as an attractive and durable means of livelihood.

Dr. Singh said that India is third in the world with 1 lakh 70 thousand startups. He underlined that about 60 thousand startups are run by women, who have become successful agricultural entrepreneurs. The minister said that the Purple Revolution, which started from Jammu and Kashmir, is a bright example of the success of agricultural startup. He informed that states like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh have taken inspiration from this revolution and started cultivation of lavender on a large scale, which has made the youth free from the mentality of government jobs and have an alternative and sustainable livelihood. He said that youth associated with startups are earning millions of rupees and are also creating employment opportunities for others.

The Union Minister informed that 50 percent startups are Tier-2 and Tier-3 in cities and towns like Surat, Vijayawada, Kanpur etc. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the government has launched schemes like Mudra Yojana, PM Swanidhi Yojana and PM Vishwakarma Yojana to promote small and medium enterprises, street vendors and traditional artisans in business. He informed that the government is also promoting Khadi products under ‘Vocal for Local’. He urged the participants of the Conclave to avail various schemes and programs to encourage production, sales and employment.

Dr. Singh also appealed to organize workshops in rural areas so that more and more people could spread awareness about these schemes and they can take advantage of it.

He emphasized the need for cooperation in future areas between industry and educational institutions.

He advocated research on futuristic subjects that were relevant in the coming years. He said that the next revolution will be bio-driving. Bio-fuels and genetically modified crops such as bio-products will become a big contributor in the economy and make India self-sufficient. He said that in the coming time the world is expecting leadership from India. The minister said that when India completes 100 years of its independence in 2027, then the youth of the country will lead a developed India.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that for this purpose, the government has implemented the National Education Policy, so that the youth can be prepared for the future by giving the right skills and training.
