Pushkar Singh Dhami: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Participated in the annual conference of Uttarakhand Judges Association “Judiciary 2.0: Inclusion, Access and Strengthening” at PES Bidhauli. He said that making the justice system more inclusive, accessible, transparent and effective is the basic spirit of good governance. He said that ensuring access to speedy and fair justice to every section of the society is one of the top priorities of the state government.

The Chief Minister said that the theme of the conference focuses on very important issues like inclusivity, easy access to justice and strengthening of judicial institutions, which is also linked to the resolve to build a developed India. He said that every section of the society should get equal opportunity and respect in the justice system and geographical or economic conditions should not become a hindrance in access to justice. Especially in a hilly state like Uttarakhand, it is necessary to provide simple and accessible justice to the people of remote areas. He said that the significance of justice lies in its fairness and timeliness. Unnecessary delay in justice affects public confidence, hence continuous efforts should be made towards making judicial processes more effective and timely.

The Chief Minister said that the judiciary is a strong pillar of democracy, which not only protects the rights of the citizens but also strengthens the sense of trust and security in the society. He said that the success of the rule of law depends on public confidence in the judiciary and the honorable judges are successfully discharging this responsibility.

The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many historic steps have been taken to make the judicial system of the country modern, transparent and technology-enabled. New laws like the Indian Judicial Code, the Indian Civil Defense Code and the Indian Evidence Act, along with systems like e-Courts, National Judicial Data Grid, digital case management and video conferencing have made judicial processes more effective.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is also continuously working to strengthen the infrastructure of the courts, systems like digital courts, e-filing and virtual hearings. Besides, cases pending for years are being resolved quickly and amicably through Revenue Lok Adalats.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working on the policy of strengthening law and order and zero tolerance towards crime. Referring to anti-copying law, anti-illegal conversion law, anti-riot law and action being taken against corruption and illegal encroachment, he said that these efforts have further strengthened the rule of law in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Minister said that the Uniform Civil Code implemented in the state with the aim of empowering women and providing equal justice to all citizens is a historic step, which is being discussed across the country. He expressed confidence that the “Judiciary 2.0” conference will play an important role in making the justice system more inclusive, accessible, transparent and effective and will prove helpful in realizing the resolve of building a developed and better Uttarakhand.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced an amount of Rs 5 crore for the welfare fund of Uttarakhand Judges Association and also released the souvenir of the association.

On this occasion, Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, Justice Ravindra Maithani, Justice Rakesh Thapliyal, Justice Alok Mehra, Justice Subhash Upadhyay, Justice Siddharth Sah, Registrar General of Uttarakhand High Court Yogesh Kumar Gupta, judges and dignitaries of various courts were present.
