Kolkata, June 7 (IANS). Before coming to power in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari had said that he would stand with the BJP workers killed in the post-poll violence in the state in 2021. After taking oath as Chief Minister, he had promised to provide jobs to the families of the deceased. He made a big announcement in the meeting at New Town Convention Center on Sunday that by June, an appointment letter will be given to a family member of 315 deceased party workers.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that along with this, a lump sum payment of Rs 5 lakh will be made from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
BJP had tried its best to come to power in Bengal during the 2021 assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had repeatedly visited the state for election campaigning and had set a target of winning 200 seats. That dream remained unfulfilled. Leave aside the mark of 200 seats, BJP could not even cross the mark of 80 seats. Trinamool Congress came to power with full majority. After the election victory, Trinamool unleashed a wave of atrocities on BJP workers across the state. Houses of workers were ransacked, and it is alleged that 321 BJP workers were killed. The legal battles regarding these incidents did not yield any significant results.
The people of Bengal gave full majority to BJP in the 2026 assembly elections. As a result, the victims and families of the deceased expected justice, and now the new BJP government is fulfilling those expectations.
After the political change, CM Suvendu Adhikari visited Falta during the election campaign and announced that he would give government jobs to the family members of party workers killed in the post-poll violence.
He also assured help to those who were attacked. Obviously, this promise gave a ray of hope to the families of the deceased, although doubts remained regarding the timeline of getting the jobs.
Now Suvendu has made a big announcement that appointment letters will be given to one family member of each deceased this month. Apart from this, one time financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh will also be given. This announcement by Suvendu Adhikari has brought relief to the families of the deceased.
