Karnal, June 9 (IANS). All the staff nurses of District Civil Hospital, Karnal remained on strike for 2 hours on Tuesday demanding the dismissal of Haryana Women Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia. The striking nurses also demanded strict action against the doctor who misbehaved with the child.
In fact, recently, some wrongdoing had happened with a girl in the LNGP Government Hospital in Kurukshetra, in which the doctor of the hospital was accused. The police have also arrested the accused doctor. In this matter, Haryana Women Commission Chairperson Renu Bhatia had recently reached the hospital and reprimanded the nurse present there. Renu Bhatia had questioned the nurses as to why they were not at the spot during the incident and why did they let their daughter stay alone with the doctor? Since then, this issue seems to be heating up in Haryana, due to which nurses in Karnal today went on a 2-hour pain down strike.
Staff nurse Bharti of Karnal Civil Hospital said that today we have gone on strike for only 2 hours. If the government does not take our strike seriously and does not fulfill our demands, we will go on a long strike. He said that the chairperson of the commission has made baseless allegations against us. We were made accused without investigation.
The Chairperson of the Women’s Commission has alleged that we (nurses) being women, allowed wrong to happen to the child and were involved with the doctor. When nothing has been proved then how are we being blamed?
Urmila said, “We will not tolerate this thing at all. Today there has been a strike of only 2 hours, if the government does not dismiss the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Renu Bhatia Madam, then our strike can extend further. We will talk to the organization of Haryana and tell them the future strategy as to what we have to do.”
