Jammu. Two Army soldiers were injured in an accidental grenade blast during a training exercise in the forward area of the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday. According to officials, the incident occurred during routine training in the forward area of the LoC. After the explosion, both the injured soldiers were immediately admitted to 425 Army Field Hospital in Poonch for treatment. At present, detailed information regarding his condition and the reasons for the accident is awaited. The approximately 740 km long Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir passes through Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Jammu district. Apart from this, the Union Territory also has an international border of about 240 km long, which is located in Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts.
The LOC is guarded by the Indian Army, while the international border is monitored by the Border Security Force (BSF). Both the security forces remain continuously deployed to prevent infiltration, smuggling, cross-border drone activities and conspiracies of terrorist organizations.
Terrorist organizations from across the border have been trying to drop arms, ammunition, cash and narcotics into Indian territory through drones, which are then delivered to the terrorists through their local associates. To stop these activities, state-of-the-art anti-drone systems have been deployed along the LOC and the international border, which has significantly reduced such incidents. Despite this, security agencies are continuously carrying out operations against terrorists, their associates and networks.
